But why, and why now? Options:
Sincere self-reflective criticism? don't hold your breath. Closing quote in the article: "Could it have been done better? Frankly, I didn't spend a lot of time looking back." Jockying to replace Colin Powell at State? Is the quondam pro-consul offering himself as the non-neocon candidate? But what if Bush (DODO*), famously thin-skinned, takes this as a sign of disloyalty? Distancing himself from Bush (DODO*) as his aWol-ness's re-election efforts seem to stumble? If/when Kerry is elected, he'll still need people who know something about what's going on in Iraq. Could Bremer be selling himself to Kerry et al. as someone with practical Iraq experience who hasn't drunk the Rovian koolaid? Hard to believe it's goining to work.
