The Angry Bear Has Spoken

Angry Bear: "So do I think Kerry has this election in the bag? Not by a long shot. But Kerry supporters would be better served if they spent a lot less time and energy on wailing and gnashing of teeth, and instead devoted time, energy, and money to supporting John Kerry."

And Pudentilla strongly agrees with him. Perhaps because she works with polite New England academics who tend to quiet handwringing, she is struck by unwarranted and therefore excessive gnashing of teeth. Raised in Chicago, Pudentilla is more familiar with the bare-knuckled school of political analysis. It is five weeks to election day. Bush (DODO*) is wildly unpopular. The polls suggest that people want to vote for someone other than Bush. Kohut said on the NewsHour last night that as many as 25% of the votes may be in play. Kerry has a history of a strong and steady closer (so stop with the "he needs a knock out punch" analysis). Have you noticed that Rove isn't committing seppuku? So, neither should Democrats. We should do nothing that could suppress a single vote.

We phone banked last night and that has left us feeling surly. We will say now what convention forbade us from saying to the Nader voter last night. "Are you out of your fucking gourd?"
